Gael Kakuta in action
I’ve got a lot of flak for my last article. Even though no one has proved me wrong, but anyways. A lot of people have complained that I slam United and Liverpool too much and not Chelsea. Well until now there was no reason. Now there is….
FIFA announced that Chelsea will be banned for one whole year from the transfer market after being found guilty of inducing French teenager Gaël Kakuta to breach his contract with Lens.
It seems someone in Chelsea has to realize that their handle on transfers isn’t good. Remember that Ashley Cole tapping up incident? And then there was the whole debacle with Obi Mikel, which is similar to Gaël Kakuta’s – but in that case Chelsea was not charged. Teams do this all the time; don’t kid yourself. But the Blues need to stop getting their dirty laundry in public.
Chelsea, work on the PR because honestly you need the help. Negative press, not helping. But of course Chelsea has said they will appeal these charges. And they have a good case. This is a really extreme punishment as fines were also given; and precedence shows that the punishment might be cut back. In July 2005, Roma was also issued a similar ban. However, after the appeal, the ban was cut back to only one transfer window. So Chelsea can breathe a little. But not too much.
This season they have a good team, but they need new players next summer as their squad is getting old. But with the appealing process Chelsea will probably be able to buy in the January transfer window or at least by the summer.

FIFA receives complaint over Fornasier transfer
And in a great little twist, Manchester United are now also being investigated for the same thing. According to Fifa, they have been contacted by Fiorentina about United’s signing of Michele Fornasier. But it gets even better for the northerners. United’s signing of Le Havre’s Paul Pogba might also be under scrutiny. Both clubs have issued statements insisting they are in the right.
So will United face the same penalty has Chelsea if found guilty? Stay tuned.
