The Premiership has been busy

So I’ve been away on vacation for 2 weeks and things changed in the premiership- well not too much. Just a team’s dream of top four flight being dashed, players being stepped on, and referees not knowing the difference between the numbers four and six.

Tottenham after starting out so well have now gone to a more normal position – out of the top four.  And I don’t really see them going back. The North Londoners don’t have what it takes. Harsh? All of their central defenders keep getting injured. And they couldn’t compete with a Manchester United team who were down to ten men. On the contrary THEY looked like the team with ten men.

To the other North Londoners, Arsenal. They are having problems, but I’m still backing them to make it into the top four or at worse fifth. Why? Yes they haven’t been winning against the top four, but look at the two games they did play against top four opponents. Against Manchester United it wasn’t the most uncontroversial game on record and niether was against Manchester City. Adebayor NOW got banned, but during the game there was no doubt he should have been sent off. He has three incidents of horrible behavior in that one match: he stepped on two Arsenal players -and former teammates I might add – and went to celebrate where Arsenal fans were located after talking trash in the newspapers about Arsenal supporters. Why was he still in the match? So six points taken away right there. Add to the fact Arsenal didn’t have their top man Arshavin in the squad the last few weeks, and you have the reason why they are struggling. So don’t count them out when there is still a lot of time.

Last weekend we had the best Manchester derby in a while. Finally City has a team to compete. And what happens? The referee moves the talking point from the field to him. City fans had their hearts broken because the referee’s watch broke. Well what other reason can the referee give for adding two extra minutes to a match. The fourth referee CLEARLY showed four extra minutes, but then 6 minutes later the game was still going. And no the game was flowing so there was no reason for it to continue. City deserved a point! And City are proving themselves over and over again.

Another team proving themselves is Chelsea. Chelsea has won every game in every competition thus far. But there is a worry. In their 3-0 victory against Tottenham, Drogba was stretchered out with a calf injury. Although there are reports he will be back for Saturday for the Blues, it has to be a worry for the future. As proven in their match in the Champions League against Porto, they NEED Drogba.  Anelka cannot play up front by himself and the midfield seems lost without him. For Chelsea to conitnue on this run he needs to stay fit.
