JaMarcus Russell had a better week 6, but how does the bet shape up?
Here are the updated stats through Week 6
| The Bet: JaMarcus Russell vs Jason Campbell | ||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Through Week 4 | TDs | INTs | Comp Pct | Pass Yds | Rating | |
| JaMarcus Russell | 2 | 6 | 45.6% | 830 | 51.0 | |
| Jason Campbell | 5 | 2 | 65.3% | 963 | 85.5 | |
For me, Sunday was the high point in this bet. It wasn’t that JaMarcus did anything special, it was the fact that Jason Campbell got benched for the day in Washington. With that piece of news, I thought there would be hope for #2 out in Oakland, but this is not that case, as reports are coming out this morning that Campbell will remain starting QB for Washington.
Despite Oakland upsetting Philadelphia 13-9 Sunday, very little of that win was a result of Russell. Louis Murphy threw three great blocks on one of the longest pass plays in Raider history from JaMarcus Russell to Zach Miller. Russell did ice the game with under two minutes left by completing a 12-yard pass to Gary Russell on a 3rd and 10.
Russells’ day: 17-28 for 224 yards with 2 Int, a TD and a passer rating of 68.2
JaMarcus Russell wasn’t the only QB booed in the first half of his game on Sunday. Jason Campbell heard his share of boo birds from the Washington faithful, and the fans received their request, at halftime Campbell was benched in favor of good old Todd Collins. Collins did lead Washington to two scoring drives to open the half, but it wasn’t enough as the Chiefs did just enough to earn their first win of the season.
Campbell was QB for six drives in the first half of Sunday’s game, four of them resulted in punts, one was a fumble and the other ended the half. Campbell hasn’t been great this year, but he hasn’t been JaMarcus Russell bad, but it was still enough for Head Coach Jim Zorn to bench Campbell.
Campbell’s day: 9-16 for 89 yards with 1 Int, and a passer rating of 46.1
This week was a win for Russell, but with the announcement of Campbell back as starting QB, this shouldn’t fare too well for Russell.
