My Weekend In The ‘Nati Part III

Sunday (The Game+Drive Back)

We arrived in Paul Brown Stadium and it was a lot nicer than I thought it would be and we made it up to seats by kickoff.

Carson Palmer, Cedric Benson and the Bengals in all black proceeded to score on their first seven possessions of the game while the orange, blue and white Bears managed just three points by halftime. Not a good weekend for football in Illinois, minus Northwestern’s comeback win after trailing 28-3.

The best highlight of the game, was that a Bengals fans tried to take the hat off a police officer and shoved him, then got arrested.

The Bengals put in their 2nd string offense at the 9 minute mark of the 4th quarter and that’s all you really need to know. This was how the place looked at the two minute warning.

The final was 45-10 and we concluded that the Cincy Bearcats could have put up a better fight than the Bears. We headed back to our car, cooked some more, argued about the incompetence of the Bears as well as Chicago politics. We had at least 1 in every 3 Bengals fans yell “Who Dey at us as well as other obscenities.

After the cooking and drinking ceased, around 8:45 EST, Jim and I headed back home. The drive was quiet and I tried finding the Yankees-Angels game on the radio, but couldn’t, so no recap there. We got home around 1:30 CST Monday, unloaded the food, grill and all left over stuff in my trunk.

It was some of the most fun I’ve had and not even the horrendous Bears could ruin my weekend. It was just 3 miserable hours out of 50+ on this trip.
