Justin Upton for $50
Posted by Chris Cwik in Baseball, Fantasy on April 5, 2010
As Monty stated in his previous article, we held our fantasy auction late last week. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I could not make it to the auction but enlisted my dad to draft me a winning team. After sending in my strategy list, I sat back and hoped for the best. Going into the auction, I knew that I wanted to come away with 1 of 2 players. I ended up with 1 of them, but it came at a rather large price.
Heyward wins starting job

Well that didn’t take long. Jason Heyward, the top prospect in baseball, has been named the starting right fielder for the Atlanta Braves. Instead of delaying Heyward’s arbitration clock, the Braves have gone all-out in Bobby Cox’s final season. Heyward will likely be a very popular late-round fantasy pick in mixed leagues. In keeper leagues, Heyward’s value skyrockets. With all his potential, what should we expect from Heyward this season?
Fantasy Outfielder Rankings
Posted by Chris Cwik in Baseball on February 13, 2010
We finally move out of the infield, and into the fantasy outfielder rankings. While most infield positions don’t offer too much depth, the outfield offers a lot of bargains to players who wait. If you need speed late in a draft, you can find cheap steals in Michael Bourn or Juan Pierre. If you want power, you can usually find Jason Kubel or Jay Bruce pretty late. Even if you need a little bit of both, you can take a chance with Alex Rios or Nate McLouth. Since most leagues start 3 outfielders per team, Matt and I have each ranked the top 35 outfielders. Let’s jump straight into it.
Future HOF: Justin Upton

One of the most valuable players in the league at 21, the sky is the limit for Justin Upton
Before you read — I will be doing a series of “Future HOF” where I claim that a certain player will be in the HOF at the end of his career. This will be mostly baseball related. I will examine players that aren’t shoe in’s – so I won’t be analyzing John Smoltz. I want to get a feel for what everyone thinks.
When I was 19 years old, I made the biggest claim of my life. I told a roommate that a kid our age would be the best outfielder our generation would ever see.
Yes, the player had played a handful of games in the majors, and was 19, so you know he had talent. It all depended on how quickly he would rise to stardom.
Now at 21, Justin Upton is already a star.
