Relax TMQ (Tuesday Morning Quarterback)

He will prove he should have been the #1 WR taken in the 2009 NFL draft at season's end.
Good afternoon Gregg Easterbrook. You do not know me, and you have definitely written a numerous amount of sports articles in comparison to me, but today you wrote a piece that I had to double check if it was actually written by you. On the front page of ESPN.com, there is an article by you bashing the signing of rookie WR Michael Crabtree of the 49ers. You’re calling it a curse, “The Crabtree Curse haunts San Fran“. You point out that since the 49ers started out 3-1, they’ve since gone 0-4 and dropped to a 3-5 record after the Crabtree signing.
Listen Mr. Easterbrook, those first three wins came against the talented Cardinals, Seahawks, and Rams. Did we really think the 49ers were the real deal after beating those 3 teams? Since the Cardinals were the defending NFC champs, we gave them credit, but the other two wins aren’t credible. Read the rest of this entry »

Michael Crabtree Still Hasn't Signed
Michael Crabtree still remains the only first round draft pick that hasn’t signed an NFL contract. While minor injury concerns dropped him to the 10th overall pick in the draft, Crabtree was expected to be an immediate contributor at the NFL level. It is now September 22nd, and Crabtree and the 49ers still seem miles apart on a contract. There has been more drama in this situation than you would find on most reality TV shows. Just within the past week, Crabtree has been criticized by Jerry Rice, was compared to the devil, and was part of a tampering charge against the Jets. In the August 26th podcast of the BS Report, Football Outsiders expert Aaron Schatz explained that Crabtree’s holdout most likely cost him the Rookie of the Year Award. This was a pretty surprising statement considering that very few rookie wide receivers make an immediate impact. If Crabtree signs by the November 12th deadline, what type of impact can he have on the team?
NFL Season Preview: NFC West

Can Kurt Work His Magic In 2009?
Don’t let a Super Bowl appearance fool you, the NFC West was a bad division last season. The best of the worst was the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona took a 9-7 record into the playoffs, got hot, and were only 35 seconds away from being the Super Bowl Champions. San Francisco experienced a mid-season resurgence after Mike Singletary took over as head coach and finished 7-9. Both the Seahawks and the Rams suffered various injuries throughout the year. Without a Quarterback, Wide Receivers, or an O-Line, Seattle finished 4-12. The lowly Rams were even worse, finishing 2-14. The Cardinals may have gone to the Super Bowl, but the Seahawks and Rams are fully recovered from their injuries. If anything, the NFC West could prove to be the most surprising division in the NFL.
Andre Smith Signs, Where is Michael Crabtree?

Andre Smith Can Buy a Lot of Donuts With That Money
Well, it took quite some time, but Andre Smith is finally at Bengals Camp. This leaves Michael Crabtree as the only 1st round rookie that remains unsigned. Crabtree, picked 10th overall by the 49ers was supposed to have a major impact as a rookie this season. With the Pre-Season almost over, it doesn’t appear that Crabtree will be on the field any time soon. The 49ers have, supposedly, offered Crabtree a contract that is on par with what the 10th pick in the draft should make, but Crabtree is still holding out for more money. There have even been rumors that Crabtree may sit out the entire season if he and the 49ers cannot get a deal done. Meanwhile, Crabtree is losing valuable practice and conditioning hours…not to mention millions of dollars. What the hell is Crabtree thinking?
