Lane Kiffin to USC: Do college coaches have any integrity?
Posted by Chris Cwik in College Football, Morality on January 13, 2010
I can’t believe I am saying this, but was Al Davis right all along? When Davis fired Kiffin after only a year and a half it just confirmed the obvious; the Oakland Raiders were still one of the worst run franchises in professional sports. Many critics felt that Davis rushed to a decision after only giving Kiffin twenty games to prove himself. Only a year and a half later, it looks as if Davis was right all along. Of course, no one in Southern California wants to hear about any of that. Honestly though, how does Lane Kiffin keep getting work?
Bradley Accepts Suspension

Cubs suspend OF Milton Bradley for remainder of season
Cubs OF Milton Bradley has agreed not to appeal his suspension for the rest of the season. Milton Bradley was suspended Sunday after he lashed out in a story in the Arlington Daily Herald at the “negativity” emanating from Cubs management and fans, and said: “You understand why they haven’t won for 100 years.”
Here is a number for you, 2. 2 is most amount of season Bradley has spent on any team in his 10 year career! His teams: Expos, Indians, Dodgers, A’s, Padres, Rangers and now Cubs. Why the Cubs gave 3 years 30 million dollars to a guy who has a history of behavioral problems and has never played more than 2 seasons on any one team was ridiculous.
What Is Michael Crabtree Doing?

Michael Crabtree Still Hasn't Signed
Michael Crabtree still remains the only first round draft pick that hasn’t signed an NFL contract. While minor injury concerns dropped him to the 10th overall pick in the draft, Crabtree was expected to be an immediate contributor at the NFL level. It is now September 22nd, and Crabtree and the 49ers still seem miles apart on a contract. There has been more drama in this situation than you would find on most reality TV shows. Just within the past week, Crabtree has been criticized by Jerry Rice, was compared to the devil, and was part of a tampering charge against the Jets. In the August 26th podcast of the BS Report, Football Outsiders expert Aaron Schatz explained that Crabtree’s holdout most likely cost him the Rookie of the Year Award. This was a pretty surprising statement considering that very few rookie wide receivers make an immediate impact. If Crabtree signs by the November 12th deadline, what type of impact can he have on the team?
Sox Lose…Guillen Blows Up Again

White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen
White Sox lose in 14 innings Thursday Night/Friday Morning to Seattle, and Ozzie Guillen blows up, again. Audio courtesy of 670 The Score In Chicago. It’s not really news if Guillen blows up, it’s just a matter of what did Ozzie say this time. Did he call out a player by name? (Jose Contreras) Any racial slurs? (Jay Mariotti) Or just a bunch of profanity mixed in with his thought? (Other 90% of the time)
This time around it was Ozzie being tired of watching bad baseball and running out of things to say. His quote, “I’m only going to say two things, I’m tired and I don’t have anything. … It was 2 1/2 hours of satisfaction and then 2 1/2 hours of horse [bleep] baseball. Go ask [the players]. I don’t have any more quotes, seriously. What the [bleep] am I going to say? They’re horse [bleep]? Yes, they are.”

Today, as most are aware, Michael Jordan, John Stockton, David Robinson and Jerry Sloan will be inducted into the basketball hall of fame. This occasion marks a rather significant milestone for our generation. That is, the idols of our childhood are being recognized for what made us all want to become professional basketball players.
NFL Is A Copycat League…Here’s Another Example

Turk Schonert fired today as offensive coordinator in Buffalo
Well you can go down several avenues to prove that one. You can look at the teams switching from the 4-3 defense to a 3-4 defense, or teams implementing the Wildcat offense, and so on.
How bout this growing trend? Firing offensive coordinators before the season has begun! The Bills fired offensive coordinator Turk Schonert today, after Kansas City’s Chan Gailey was fired on Monday and Tampa Bay’s Jeff Jagodzinski was let go on Thursday. I talked to some longtime NFL followers, did some research and struggled to find any precedent for these types of firings. (If you find some, send it to me and I will be quite thankful)
Favre Breaks Rule, NFL Finally Takes Notice

Brett Favre Is Involved, So Now The NFL And The Media Will Take Notice
If you haven’t seen it already, then here it is. That’s everyone’s favorite quarterback nearly ending Eugene Wilson’s career. Cut blocks and crackbacks have been in the NFL for quite a while. The Denver Broncos were notorious for injuring players due to Cut Blocks. The NFL made cut blocks and crackbacks illegal in 2004. Under the rule change, crackbacks would fall under the unnecessary roughness rule and be charged with a 15 yard penalty. The way the media is talking about Favre’s now infamous block, you can expect the NFL to increase that penalty.
Michael Vick Debuts Tonight

Vick Makes His Debut Tonight
After two years of waiting, Michael Vick will finally play in an NFL game tonight. Vick’s pre-season debut tonight will be the fist time Vick has played in the NFL since 2006, when he threw for 20 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. While much of the pre-season is meaningless to the causal NFL fan, Vick’s debut will undoubtedly be a top news story. However, it seems as though things may actually be quite tame in Philly tonight.
Two down for Calipari!
Posted by Rene in College Basketball, Morality on August 20, 2009
According to a source, and reported by ESPN.com, the Memphis Tigers will be forced to vacate their record setting 38 win season and trip to the Final Four in 2007. Earlier this year, the NCAA infractions committee accused Memphis of violations. These included an erroneous SAT score, which later proved to be that of Derrick Rose, and financing his brother with trips to watch Rose play. Later today at 3 P.M., the NCAA committee will explain their rulings via a conference call from Indianapolis.
In my opinion, even though Calipari isn’t being charged directly with these allegations, I’m inclined to warn the Kentucky Wildcats of the situation they are bringing into their program. The ‘96 UMASS Final Four team, also coached by Calipari, was stripped of its Final Four appearance. We now are witnessing his recent former team, Memphis, being ordered to vacate their season. Catch my drift here? I’ve always believed John Calipari to be a shady coach that brings bottom dwelling programs to prominence out of no where. No one’s that good to do that all by themselves. He now heads to a prominent program in Kentucky, to resurrect it. He’s never been put in this situation before, and I wouldn’t be surprised when the Wildcats are in the Final Four in a couple years, to have it stripped two years after that!
